Hoi An ... the asian Venice

Well that was another long day once that I had got settled into my hotel. I started by doing quite a long walk around Hoi  to get my bearings.  I walked over to one of the islands (Can Nam)and around many backstreets on the island, and then back into the central market. As I walked to the other end of the market I discovered the bridge that crossed to the ancient part of the town (An Hoi) and walked over there. This is the area just across from where the Japanese Covered Bridge is. I got lots of photos as the area lends itself very much to photography.

Although I do have to say I'm not overly happy with happy with my camera performance when focusing under zoom. Even before the fall I had noticed this. Hopefully I've got some good photos though because Hoi An is an amazing place. At midday I came back to the hotel and had a rest it turns out I fell asleep until 5 p.m. At which time i decided to head out and have some dinner and do some night time photography, which was even better with all of the colourful Chinese lanterns hanging all through the streets.

I'm  growing increasingly disturbed at the messages Im hearing from other backpackers that i'm running into who have come down from the north as to the weather around SAPA. Its been very cold and has even had some light snow and is projected to get worse I went online today to check the weather in the area and at the height of the day it was only 3 degrees celsius i'm now thinking that this may make a very miserable motorbike trip by the time I get there, and I may need to review my plans.  It may be that i get to Hanoi and do a trip out from there and stay in SAPA for a few days and explore the area much as i am doing here down the south as opposed to riding a motorbike through blizzard conditions for 8 or 9 hours of the day which would not be much of a holiday. I will watch the conditions over the next day or two and make a decision about this

In the interim ... I'm in Photo heaven !
