Settling in Nga Trang

After packing the last of my back pack about 7 am, I dropped the keys at reception and walked up the hill. I wandered into decent looking hotel to see if they could book me a bus to Nga Trang. 120000 vnd, and 15 mins later the bus picked me up from right there. It's about a 4 hour trip I believe.
:
It went via Da Sa and Da Chay towns. I met a few nice young Chinese lads on the bus and we chatted a bit about our holidays. I swapped one of them an Aussie coin for Yuan coin as a keepsake.

Its a very scenic route, and I now wish i had done it by bike . The bus was fine but bumpy and it didn't stop except one 15 min break, would have been nice to get photos. I got some through the windows of waterfalls, not sure how they will come out.

When I arrived I walked away from the taxi touts who wait hungily at each of such bus stops. I used my GPS and found that the beach was only two blocks away. I found a hotel Room near the beach and negotiated down to 200000 vnd per night (they started at 300000!) , paid for two nights, it's three floors up stairs, but that's ok.

The room is the first with a fridge I've seen. It would not work, and when I looked behind i could see a wire hanging out. Fixed and plugged it in and it works fine. Next, I shall seek out chocolate and fill it till it overflows.

I cool down with a nice cold shower and went for a walk along the beach.

I was careful to leave big cash and passports in my room. I even left my camera this time. Ive heard bad storues about this place, and I've already met three people who have had a purse or wallet taken. Two had lost thier passports!! ... I'm always careful not to flash a wad of cash, and I always keep my bag attached to me and well zipped up.

I walked the entire length of the beach I stopped for 3 or 4 swims. When I swam I left my bag next to other people, so it was not isolated on the beach. Just out to sea I can see Vinpearl Resort Island. It has a Hollywood style sign that can be easily seen from Nga Trang.

I came back via the boardwalk I found a freshwater pool area with a pool bar and stopped in for a nice lunch while sitting in the pool. A Tiger stubbie beer and 5 small rolls of feta wrapped in eggplant and soaked in olice oil, 80000 vnd.

I tried to talk to a few people, but everybody... and I mean everybody here is Russian. Even the brochures and menus are in Russian. I havent even got close to Vietnamese yet lol.  LENA help !! Lol
