Falling for Buddah

The Pogoda was very nearby, just a short ride away.

It was quite nice, but had its own adventures in store for me.

Firstly, the bike park attendant tried to sting me for 10000 vnd for my bike park... I had never paid this much before anywhere. Then I saw a sign that said it was only 3000 vnd. I dragged him over to it, and he said "ok 3000" , and just laughed. Seriously Vietnamese people ... you are earning yourselves a very bad reputation.

I gave him a serious look and called him an arsehole. Im sure he did not understand as he nodded and kept laughing.

The next surprise was near disasterous.

On the narrow tile steps just below the prayer gong, I slipped on the wet tiles and rolled to the bottom of perhaps twenty or so steps. My SLR camera took several full bashes on the concrete and I even landed on it.

As a testiment to the Nikon D7000 (which is actually built to be more rugged), it took one hell of a smash and  it survived.

I was ok too. Big thanks to all my Sensei's who have taught me to fall and roll. That was a huge fall, and I only have a slight bruised tailbone and ego to show for it.

The camera is still working fine it seems, but will be up for sale when I get back ;-)

I got some great photos, and when I explored the monks graveyard (its behind the Buddha, and  seemed to be out of bounds), I found an old looking shard of pottery or tombstone or something. I grabbed it as a souvenir to all that is Nga Trang.
